Boston Marathon Bombing - Keep them in Prayer

I have been reading many articles and comments related to Boston Marathon Bombing in google, blog post, facebook and many other social media websites. I am saddened and grieved to see families losing their loved one, to see some of the victims had their limbs amputated. One of the victims, an 8 year old boy, cheering for his loved ones, is gone.

Whenever such a tragedy happens, be it natural disaster such as hurricanes or earthquakes or violences such as Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting and Boston Marathon Bombing, I would ask myself - Why would God allow it to happen.

Yes, as a Christian, I really do not know the answer exactly. As His ways is always higher than our ways

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9

One fundamental truth in the bible is that God is loving and God loves us. He sent His only Son to die so that we can have live a life more abundantly. Rather than spending time to reason why all these happened, why not we offer help and shower the victims with love and care to help them not to spiral down into depression, bitterness or hatred.

I got reminded of a few things through this incident. Firstly, life is uncertain and treasure your loved ones. Very often, when we graduate from university to step into the marketplace, we are tied up with our busy schedules in work. We tell ourself and other people that work and earn more when we are still young. While this is true, I feel that there is still a need to balance out and spend quality time with your loved ones. Learn how to differentiate between what is important and what is necessary. It is important to earn money and make your mark in your career while you are still young. But it is necessary to spend at least some time with your family members everyday! You may not know when will happen tomorrow. So treasure every moment with your loved ones.

Secondly, I am really thankful that I am still breathing every seconds. The fact that I am still well and healthy is already a blessing. And when I am still strong and healthy, I would want to be a blessing to others as much as I can. I feel that my strength is in the area of academics. So I'll give free tuitions to poor children at times to help them in their studies. It is really a blessing to be a blessing to others.

So, rather than spending time to reason out why God allow such incident to happen. Why not we just roll up our sleeves and start to be a blessing to those who needs around you. Keep those victims of Boston Marathon Bombing in prayers!

Dear Heavenly Father.

I would like to lift up those who are affected in this Boston Marathon Bombing into your loving hands. I pray for the love and peace of God to come their hearts and the hearts of their family members. Help them as only you can. Whenever they need any help, God you will send them help through people immediately. You have said that you will come close to the broken hearted. I pray that You will begin to heal their broken hearts and physical wounds. Cover them under your wings, send angels to protect them. I thank You God. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!
